Javier SOLANA,
EU High Representative for the CFSP, welcomes the Russian Government’s decision to sign the Kyoto Protocol.
Javier SOLANA. European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), today welcomed the announcement by President Putin that the Russian Federation would ratify the Kyoto Protocol.
“I very much welcome today’s announcement. It is a very clear and positive signal of Russian commitment to effective multilateralism. Kyoto has been a prominent issue in EU-Russian relations, and the clarification of the position of the Russian government is evidence of the value of our dialogue. The path is now clear for the entry into force of this important treaty. I encourage others to join the search for effective global responses to global challenges.”
